We prep the base ourselves.That is the step cheap installs skip and it is why they fail in the first year.
We arrive early because of the heat. By noon a slab in July is too hot to prime properly, so the grinding starts at first light. First the whole area gets ground open, which knocks the sealer and the old paint off and gives the primer something to bite. Bad concrete gets cut out and patched. Cracks get opened and bridged so they do not print through later. Then we straightedge the whole thing and mark the low spots, because water has to run to the drain and not to the back door. Priming is last and it is the step nobody sees. Every square foot gets primed. If a section is still damp we leave it and come back to it rather than pour over it.
The mix gets made on your property, batch by batch, weighed the same way every time. Mixing, placing, screeding and edging all happen at the same time, each with its own set of hands. Nobody stops until the section is closed, because a pour that sits waiting is a seam you will feel with your foot in a year. Weather runs the day. In summer the storm cell comes off the Everglades in the afternoon, so we pour the open areas in the morning and keep the covered work for after. If it opens up on us we tarp what is down and stop. We would rather come back tomorrow than hand you a surface that got rained into while it was still green.
When the last edge is trowelled the site gets swept, the tape comes off and the barricades go up. Nothing walks on it for 24 to 48 hours. In our humidity that window moves, so we tell you the actual hour we will release it, not a guess. Pool decks get the extra day before anyone gets back in the water, and the pump stays off until we say. Then we walk it with you, barefoot, in daylight. You look at the edges, the drain falls and the color across the whole area. Anything you do not like gets marked and fixed before we load the truck. The 2 year workmanship warranty is already in the contract you signed, so nothing needs to be argued at handover.

Our own crew, on our payroll, the same people who measured your job. A pour needs several people working at once and they have to know each other, which is why we do not sub it out. You get the lead installer's number on day one. He is on site the whole time, not managing three jobs at once.
Yes. The work stays outside the house and the crew uses one entry point, so nothing tracks through your living room. Keep pets and kids off the deck for the full curing window and use a different door if the pour is across your main one. We tell you at the measurement which door you will lose and for how long.
We stop and cover. Fresh material that gets rained on has to come up, so we do not gamble on a cell passing. Work resumes when the slab surface is dry again, sometimes the same afternoon, sometimes the next morning. Rain days do not change your fixed written price. That is our problem to schedule around, not yours to pay for.
Usually yes, and it is easier if you ask early. Most boards in Broward and Palm Beach want the color, the area and the work dates in advance. We give you the written spec sheet and the color you picked so you can submit it. If the board wants a sample on the actual deck, we do that at the measurement.
