Poured rubber surfacing by B-Cool Surfacing
Splash pad surfacing

A splash pad that grips wet feet and stays cool at noon

Poured in place rubber splash pad surfacing costs from 8 dollars per sq ft installed in South Florida. It is seamless, grips under bare wet feet, drains straight through and is back in use in 24 to 48 hours.

Updated September 2026

Splash pad surfacing is a bonded rubber base topped with a coloured EPDM wear layer, poured straight over your existing concrete pad. From 8 dollars per sq ft installed in South Florida, seamless, permeable and grippy when wet. Where the pad carries climbing or tipping features, we set the depth to their fall height.

The problem with a bare concrete pad
  • Wet concrete turns slick the moment the jets come on
  • Bare slab hits 155 degrees on a Florida afternoon and children stop using it
  • Painted and stamped finishes chalk, peel and streak where water runs every day
What we install
  • ✓Grip under wet bare feet. The poured texture holds where wet concrete and smooth tile let a foot go.
  • ✓Cool at noon. Our light blend reads 99 degrees where bare concrete hands a child 155 on a 91 degree afternoon.
  • ✓Water goes through, not across. The surface is permeable, so the pad drains instead of holding puddles.
  • ✓Colour and zoning built in. Jets, walkways and rest zones can each get their own colour, poured as one seamless piece.
  • ✓Straight over the existing pad. Sound concrete takes the new surface with no demolition and no dumpster.

FAQ
Is poured rubber safe for a splash pad?

It is the same poured in place system used on commercial playgrounds. On a splash pad the job it does is grip and temperature rather than fall protection, because most pads have nothing to fall from. Where your pad carries climbing or tipping features, we set the depth to their fall height the same way we do on a playground.

How is this better than concrete, tile or stamped finishes?

Wet concrete and smooth tile get slick exactly when children run on them. Bare slab also reads 155 degrees on a 91 degree afternoon where our light blend reads 99. Painted and stamped finishes chalk and peel where water runs every day. Poured rubber is textured, seamless and renewed over the same base instead of torn out.

Can you pour over our existing splash pad?

In most cases yes. If the pad sounds solid we prep and pour straight over it with no demolition. Where it sounds hollow those areas are ground back to sound concrete first, because anything laid over a failing layer fails with it. We sound the pad during the free on-site visit.

How long is the pad out of use?

Most splash pads take 1 to 3 days including prep, then 24 to 48 hours of curing before the water goes back on.

How does it handle chlorinated water and sun?

The wear layer is EPDM granule, which is the grade used outdoors because it holds colour under UV. On light and white blends we use the clear aliphatic binder so the surface does not yellow. Every B-Cool splash pad carries a 2 year workmanship warranty, and what happens after that is set by the pad underneath, which is why we sound it before we quote.

Does it drain?

Yes. The poured surface is permeable, so water goes through it rather than sitting on top. The pad keeps its own drains and slope, and the rubber does not block them. Because there are no seams and no tile joints, there is nowhere for standing water to sit and nothing for a bare foot to catch.

What does a splash pad surface cost?

From 8 dollars per sq ft installed. Eight is a sound flat pad, a simple shape and one standard colour. Curved edges, steps, tight spots around jets, multi colour zoning and custom patterns move it up inside the 8 to 15 range. We measure and put the number in writing before you pay anything.
